The Ducks trail the rest of the pack by a sizeable margin in ROW.

With the struggle the Ducks have faced this year is it still their window to win or does the team think it closes in a year or so and time to re-tool similar to Boston has?

The Ducks don't retool, they reload.

The struggles were due to injury. Major injuries. Kesler is still at only 70% or so (hopefully 100% next year).

Why would we need to retool? Getzlaf still a beast (and only 32). Since January or so our shutdown line has been tremendous for us. Defense is still young and getting better. Our goalie already top tier in the league at 24. As Steve said, we'll reload before we retool.

Calgary is hot trash. Shame we won't have an easy opponent like the Flames in the first round this year.

The Flames last year in the playoffs against your MIGHTY DUCKS, had some bad calls that cost games. The Ducks are on a decline and if it wasn't for Smith being injured, you're Ducks would be (frank)ed. You inbred mofo

Pretty sad Steve, that you are the blogger for the Sharks and Ducks. No one in the California area cares about hockey period douche Steve.

I wish that were true, then I wouldn't have to spend so much damned money keeping my boys on the ice.
You realize the end of this season was only a matter of time, don't you? Mike Smith was playing massively over his head and a correction was bound to happen. At least you can be consoled in the fact that the Flames are helping the Islanders get a helluva lot better next year!

Both Flames and Oil both helping Isles get better.

Good solid road win for the boys, brings that same effort to the peg -

Neither it seems does anyone in Calgary ....

Good luck in Houston or Seattle .... oh and at least we pay for our own arenas ....
Both Alberta teams can take happiness in being the Isles farm teams.... Isles need good players or picks ???? Just call Brad or Chia ... and magically done...

2 x 2nds and 1st for Travis
congrats on being shut out of the upcoming draft...

Steve keep up the great work...

"Ducks are on the decline..." blah blah blah

Must really suck to see our 24yr old goalie (and who's only going to get better) blank your team. Then you have to watch us race up and down the ice with a bunch of YOUNG puck moving D that are only going to get better.

Grab some Kleenex to dry your tears.

I don't know why you'd need to re-tool. It's why I asked. It was an honest question and I appreciate the honest answer.

I know you have D-prospects coming out of your ears but what about centers? Kesler can't last forever.

Depends on Terry & Steel both developing, each are complete studs of the first order...Obviously neither is Getz or even AM level but both could and should be very solid 2nd line C's.

May be a stupid question, but who is "AM"? Did you mean AH? If so, here's hoping he resigns with us. He only has one more year on his current contract.

I agree with the Terry/Steel potential, but I'd feel a lot better if Terry signed his entry level contract. My concern is he'll pull a "Schultz" and bolt.
